Privacy Notice

Go Yolo Travel is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. It explains how the app works without accounts or login, where trip information is stored, and the choices available to you.

Information stored in your browser

The app uses essential browser storage to remember authorised trip summaries, private access tokens, your current and previous-trip list, and expenses or changes waiting to sync after a connection problem. The service worker may also cache app files so the interface loads reliably. This information stays in that browser unless you remove it, clear the browser's site data or use the Privacy & Data controls.

Information stored remotely

The complete shared trip is stored in Go Yolo Travel's hosted database. This includes trip dates and destination, traveller names, planner choices, budgets, expenses, voluntarily entered places, reveal results, support conversations, consent records and technical security records. Access and recovery secrets are stored as one-way hashes on the server. Remote storage is necessary for Join Trip, Recover Trip, shared-trip syncing and access from a browser that holds a valid token.

Trip codes and shared access

Anyone who has a current trip code can ask to join that shared trip, so only share it with people you trust. The organiser can replace and revoke the code; the old code then stops accepting new joins. Existing authorised travellers remain signed in on their saved devices unless their access or the trip is deleted.

Why we use trip information

We use essential trip information to provide the planning, budgeting, recovery, support and group-syncing service requested by users, to keep the service secure, and to deal with faults or legal obligations. The app does not secretly collect GPS location. A place is recorded only when a traveller enters it.

Anonymous app and travel insights

Protected, aggregated statistical insights are included by default to help Go Yolo understand how the app is used, improve its features and travel content, and understand broad travel trends. They may include totals and broad patterns such as destinations, party sizes, planning lead times, spending categories and voluntarily recorded types of places. Anonymous aggregate results may be included in threshold-protected sponsor reports, but no individual trip or traveller is shown. They are not used to identify, profile or make decisions about individual travellers. Any authorised traveller can switch this off in Privacy & Data; if anyone objects, the shared trip is excluded from these insights.

Where this processing involves personal information before aggregation, Go Yolo relies on its legitimate interests in improving the service and understanding broad travel trends, after balancing those interests against travellers' rights. Where browser storage or access is involved, Go Yolo relies on the statistical-purposes exception and provides this simple, free way to object.

Partner and sponsor measurement

Partner and sponsor measurement is separate and off by default for each traveller. Consent is the lawful basis for this measurement. It starts only when that traveller actively switches it on and may record partner or sponsor impressions and clicks linked to their trip membership so Go Yolo can measure performance. Withdrawing consent stops future measurement and deletes measurement events still linked to that traveller. Affiliate links continue to work and may still earn Go Yolo Travel commission when this measurement is off. No third-party analytics scripts are currently used.

Booking partners and sponsors

Clearly labelled partner links may earn Go Yolo Travel a commission at no extra cost to you. Booking partners and sponsors do not receive your trip code, traveller names, notes, booking references or individual spending history from the app. Go Yolo's own partner measurement choice does not control technologies used after you visit another website; that provider's privacy and cookie notices apply.

How long information is kept

A remote shared trip is kept so it can remain available in Previous trips until its organiser permanently deletes it; there is currently no automatic fixed deletion date. Browser access remains until it is forgotten, all app data is deleted, or the browser's site data is cleared. Support conversations and consent records are kept with the trip and are deleted when the trip is deleted. Data may be retained only where required to establish, exercise or defend legal claims or meet another legal obligation.

Export and deletion

Privacy & Data lets an authorised traveller export a trip as a structured JSON file. The organiser can permanently delete the complete remote shared trip. Delete all my app data removes every trip saved on that browser: organiser trips are deleted for everyone, while joined trips have that traveller's membership, support messages and linked spending removed. Shared group entries that cannot be attributed to one person remain with the group trip. Without accounts, Go Yolo cannot automatically find trips that are no longer saved on the browser; recover or rejoin such a trip first, or contact us with enough information to locate it.

Website enquiries are separate

Emails sent through the Go Yolo Travel website Contact or Beat the Quote forms are handled separately from app trip data. They are not automatically added to a trip or used to create an app profile.

Your UK data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of or objection to the use of your personal information, and you may ask for portable information. You can object to statistical insights or withdraw partner-measurement consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful use. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

Families

Family trips should be created and managed by an adult. Only add another person's information with their permission and do not enter sensitive personal information that the trip does not need.
